Today's cheeseburger was purchased via www.delivery.com from...

Pizza Etc 200 Main St, Haverhill, MA. (978) 372-6996

Here's how it happened... I got home from work and I was hungry. I mean REAL hungry. What was I to do? All I had in the fridge were Dole fruit cups. FRUIT CUPS! This was unacceptable. Food had to be ordered and ordered it would be. Unfortunately my dog had learned to open the phone book and menu drawer the previous day so I had no reference material! Undaunted I reached for my MacBook and pulled up my favorite website www.menulizard.com. There I found Pizza Etc, and there was a link to their website so away I clicked. On their website there was yet another link. A link to www.delivery.com. The single greatest invention since (but not including) the cheeseburger. With their easy-to-use service I placed my cheeseburger order. I ordered a cheeseburger dinner (Cheeseburger, fries and *gag* salad) and a side order of onion rings.

It's not a bad burger. It's not the best burger. It's pretty average for the pizza shop world. But here's what you need to make it amazing...

1. Barbecue Sauce (This should always be in your fridge).

2. An order of onion rings.

Some of you may remember this as the "Rodeo Cheeseburger" that Burger King used to offer back during the "Small Soldiers" movie promotion in 1998. Now here's the tricky part... Put the onion rings and the barbecue sauce ON the cheeseburger. I know, it sounds crazy but trust me. I'm a professional.

Times are tough but thankfully I can still afford a cheeseburger or two a week. Today's cheeseburger was purchased from...

Liberty Bell
I know. Liberty Bell is known for it's roast beef. But this is a CHEESEBURGER blog. And they just so happen to also sell cheeseburgers. Don't worry, I got a jr beef too. So without further blah, blah, blah...

Squishy
On this burger you will find cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup... Put whatever you want on it. It really doesn't matter. Now I ALWAYS get the plate/platter/dinner or whatever they call it. At this place you get fries, onion rings and a creepy container of coleslaw.

Taste good? Yeah. Get it again? Yup. Same burger you get everywhere else? Yes. So why should you eat here? Liberty Bell is the best place to order food from when everyone wants something different. They have AMAZING roast beef and killer seafood. You can even get some decent pasta or some homemade soup. It's the best choice for you because everyone gets what they want you can still get a delish burger in the process. Stay away from the chicken fingers though. Always overcooked.

I know... I'm really late with the whole blog update thing so here it is. Today's cheeseburger was purchased from...

Ari's 402 South Main St, Bradford, MA 978-521-1470.
Picture
Ari's is another neighborhood pizza, sub and sandwich place. Pretty sure it's greek because their pizza is terrible. I mean... If you like greek style pizza it's amazingly good. But I don't so I get the burger.
Picture
This is a pretty standard local shop burger. Nothing really special about it. Burger, cheese, bun and whatever toppings you want. Is it good? Yeah. I'd eat it again. Is it amazing? Yes and No. No, because it's just your run of the mill burger. And yes because a lot of restaurants suck at the basics. I know what I'm getting when I order from places like this and too many times I've been disappointed. Ari's is good. I even tried their steak and cheese sub. And I swear to god I almost started a sub blog just so I could sing their sub's praises. It was still delicious the next day when I re-heated it in the microwave.

But most importantly... THEY DELIVER ICE CREAM! Honestly, why would you order from anywhere else? I wish I didn't have to eat at a new place every week because I want more.

I went to McDonald's and had a Quarter Pounder. Yeah I know... Boring and no pics. I'M FRICKIN' BUSY!  I'll get out this weekend and get a good one. I swear.

Snow. And a lot of it. That is what I'm dealing with today. So since there's close to a foot preventing me from going out to get a cheeseburger... This freezing day is getting a frozen cheeseburger review. I present to you, The Steak-Umm Burger.

Steak-Umm. Your local grocer's freezer section www.steakumm.com/Burgers.htm
Picture
The instructions were pretty basic. Fry pan on medium heat, 9 minutes per side. While I waited I grabbed some toppings. Heinz Ketchup, French's Mustard, Vlassic Pickles, Green Leaf Lettuce, Slice of Tomato, Hellman's Mayonnaise, Sargento's Vermont Sharp White Cheddar  and a lightly toasted bun. Put it all together and this is what you get.

That is a good looking burger right? If you answered yes... You would be wrong. These burgers are horrible. Absolutely disgusting. Not even the use of all my name brand condiments could save these pucks. I tried cooking several of them and they all came out the same way. Hard on the outside and raw on the inside. And I followed the instructions perfectly. Maybe they'd be better on a grill, but if that was an option you'd be better off with fresh beef anyway. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these 1/3 lb failures.

Almost forgot to blog this one. Today's cheeseburger was purchased from...
Deli Works & Pizzeria 62 Montvale Ave, Stoneham, MA.
See the menu here: MENU LIZARD

I used to live around the corner from this joint but never went there for food. I've heard some good things about them so I decided to check it out. It seems the person who placed the order via website for me either made a slight mistake or their computer glitched. The order was supposed to be 2 cheeseburger dinners, a cheeseburger sub and a cheeseburger calzone. We ended up getting an extra cheeseburger dinner and there were 2 cheeseburgers in every dinner plate! This is totally our fault and not the restaurants but I still don't know if the dinners are supposed to have 2 burgers or just the one... But that doesn't matter, I only want to tell you how it tastes.

Deli Works Bacon Cheeseburger
So here it is. Ignore the lean. It's clearly just being gangstah. This was  actually a really good cheeseburger. On it we have bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and mustard. Side note... Awesome crunchy onion rings. The bun was lightly toasted and buttery... It sort of tasted like a grilled cheese with a delicious burger shoved inside.

Granted I must stress that this is no gourmet burger. I will hardly ever review one of those places. And I refuse to eat anywhere that tries to tell me what toppings can and can't be used on my burger. This is just a delicious cheesy beef bundle of joy that beats anything else I've had in Stoneham. Very convenient location right off of 93. Do yourself a favor if you're in the area and pretend that Wendy's, McDonald's and Burger King aren't in the area, because this place beats them all.

Today it snowed. Which means no venturing off into the world and just watching movies all day. But that gets boring real quick. So since I always have beef and cheese at the ready, I decided to make a cheeseburger. Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you...

The Pizza Burger
This is super delicious. Just cook a cheeseburger with cheddar and sandwich it between two pieces of Elio's sausage and pepperoni Pizza. By pieces I mean snap off two of the three pieces of the larger piece. Be careful cooking the pizza. If you leave it in too long it gets too crunchy to use as a bun. And that's it! I was insanely bored and made a really bad for you burger. Hope you enjoyed this slight departure from my regular review.

Are you not entertained?! Today's cheeseburger was purchased from...

Pizza Market 492 Main Street, Woburn, MA.
See the menu here: MENU LIZARD
Yes. I went to another pizza place for a burger. But this joint is more than just pizza. (It's really good pizza too.) They have calzones, wraps, subs... All the junk you expect. (All of that is really good).  But how's the cheeseburger?
Picture
While they may not be "Gourmet", they do make one hell of a cheeseburger. I got mine with mayo, lettuce and tomato on a sesame seed bun. I ordered the dinner plate so it came with fries. Usually pizza places don't even try to make a decent burger but Pizza Market knocked it out of the park. Perfectly cooked, gooey warm american cheese and the fries were both crunchy and moist and complimented the burger. I did not use any ketchup for this meal because I didn't want to mask any of the flavors. Never, EVER do I get a burger this good when I phone in a delivery. The only problem was my hatred of shredded lettuce. But that's easily overlooked with the explosion of delicious flavor that comes with every bite.
Picture
Right now this is the best burger in Woburn, MA. There are still a ton of places to check out in that city though. I just hate risking getting a bad lunch from somewhere else when I know that this gem of a burger is only a phone call away. But if I'm going to continue this cheeseburger blog then I need to move on. Great job Pizza Market!

Time for another super-exciting cheeseburger blog post! Today's cheeseburger was purchased from...

KRAVINGS ETC... 106 Winn Street, Woburn, MA. www.kravingsetc.com/
Picture
I was a little biased against this place and was going to avoid it completely, but I needed a burger and it was convenient. You see this place used to be a really great dive of a pool hall back in the days where you could still smoke in Massachusetts. It turned into a restaurant called Crazy Karry's or something like that, but nobody went there. Then it became a restaurant called Flighty's? But no one went there either. Now it's Kravings etc.... And... ONE person went there... Me. Swear to god... Only car in the parking lot. But enough of that. I don't judge the restaurant. I only care about the burgers.
Picture
At first glance it's "Meh". Looks like it's just your basic patty, boring piece of processed american cheese on a plain and simple sesame seed bun. But at SECOND glance... It's far worse.

Cheeseburger Rule #1: Cheese matters. When I pull off the top bun, I shouldn't see what looks like a kraft single on my burger. That's technically not cheese. I'm not saying that's what it is, because honestly I'm not sure but it looks pretty suspect.

Cheeseburger Rule #2: Quarter turn when grilling. You must have cross grill marks whenever you grill beef. Pretty sure it's part of the test when you get your cheeseburger license. These grill marks look fake and make me wonder if they came precooked and frozen just to be nuked for my order.

Cheeseburger Rule #3: Leaf Lettuce.  It is NEVER ok to use shredded lettuce on a cheeseburger. Green leaf lettuce is the best. Iceberg is too watery. Oh and the veggies go on top. Burger juice is supposed to seep into the bottom bun.

So they broke all three of my rules. The burger wasn't horrible, but if that's what they are going to serve then maybe they shouldn't even bother with them. Stay away from their cheesy-beefiness.

I usually don't do this because it's a Cheeseburger blog, but I felt I had to give them something. They have awesome chicken finger subs. Yeah I got two dinners. So what? They have a bunch of different variations too. I got the Chicken deluxe, Crispy chicken fingers, Bacon, American cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo,  & BBQ sauce. Heaven on a roll...

Today's cheeseburger comes to us from

Pizza Mia 758 Boston Road Billerica, MA 01821. www.pizzamia.org
I know that typically, when pizza is in the name of their restaurant, you don't get delicious cheeseburgers. However, in this case... You still don't. I ordered the cheeseburger plate. Comes with fries and a salad. Obviously the salad is a throw away item so forget I mentioned it. When I opened the styrofoam packaging I was shocked by what I found...
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?! Half a cheeseburger sub? Yup. To be fair I had ordered 2 cheeseburger dinners and 1 cheeseburger sub. I'm hoping that they screwed up and made 2 cheeseburger subs, said "Whoops" and just served it that way to avoid waste. Because if that's truly their cheeseburger, then I am offended and appalled.

Now clearly I like cheeseburger subs or I wouldn't have ordered one. But when I order a cheeseburger sub, it's because I wanted a cheeseburger sub. But when you want a true cheeseburger.... The sub roll just won't do. The bread is the most important part of the cheeseburger! It holds everything together. A sub roll is too chewy and this particular one refused to tear, making the actual eating process annoyingly difficult.

These were your common cheeseburger patties that you find everywhere. Not horrible but also nothing worth going out of your way for. If you're hungry, in Billerica and want food that won't make you sick... Then go to Pizza Mia. Maybe if you ask nicely they'll use buns when you go.
